Mere miles from New York City stand magnificent cliffs that tower over the Hudson River, providing sweeping vistas and countless hiking opportunities. Here on the New Jersey Palisades, we will take in views from high up and climb down to explore the river's edge to get the complete picture of this special place.
Not only are the Palisades a natural wonder, they're a historical landmark as well. During the Revolutionary War, the British marched up the cliffs in pursuit of George Washington and his men. And until the early 1900s, people settled the land and built grand estates—the remains of which can still be seen today.
These hiking tours are easy to moderate with one somewhat challenging climb. Hiking boots/shoes are preferred.
